2010 Copa Jerez U.S. Finals Dry Sherry Pairings Announced – Vote for the Best Pairing!

1.       The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs has been known as an international culinary hub in the western United States since 1918, and its diverse range of restaurants offer everything from classic American cuisine to European fine dining.  Their first course pairing is: Asparagus & Coconut Milk Soup with Rhubarb Compote with Emilio Lustau Solera Reserva Puerto Fino. 2.       Casa Mono mixes classic dishes from the fishing villages of Spain with a range of adventurous dishes, from cockscombs to pig’s feet. Chef Anthony Sasso often travels around the world and in particular Catalunya, Spain to visit his family and search for inspiration to create his delicacies. 3.       The Bazaar in Los Angeles is often referred to as Spain’s unofficial ambassador to the U.S. This restaurant is known for both avant-garde and traditional Spanish cuisine and a playful atmosphere. 4.       Chef James Caruso’s restaurant, La Boca, is one of the most well-known restaurants in Santa Fe. He uses traditional Spanish ingredients but succeeds in showcasing them with a completely different angle. Copacetic with the Copa Jerez

Things are excellent in the world of Sherry. The Sherry Council of America has announced the four teams that will compete in the U.S. Finals for the Copa Jerez. On October 6th, 2010, these finalists, who are from some of the nation’s most renowned restaurants, will showcase their best culinary talents and expertise in Sherry wines before a live panel of judges in hopes of moving on to the final competition to be held in Spain in January 2011.

The final four are:

The Bazaar – Los Angeles
The Broadmoor – Colorado Springs
Casa Mono – New York City
La Boca – Sante Fe

We raise our glasses to all four finalists, and salute those everywhere who keep all things copacetic with Sherry.
