Many new members ask us where the style of drinking “pinky out” came from. Well, first it’s not style, it’s solidarity. One of our founding members was laying his jacket across a puddle in an act of chivalry and a wagon wheel rolled over his hand, breaking the fairest of his fingers. He was without its use for six weeks. To show their support, his fellow members would lift their pinkies off their glasses to show that even though he was without a pinky, he was still with friends.
